Flavourful Foods

Stepping into the vibrant town centre, visitors were transported to the bustling streets of Asia. With mouth-watering aromas of authentic Asian food filling the air, any cravings for savoury dishes or sweet drinks were surely satisfied.

Market attendees had the opportunity to explore food stalls offering dishes including the popular Banh Mi (Vietnamese), Biryani (Indian), Squid Skewers (Chinese) and Bubble Tea (Taiwanese).

The rich culinary diversity at the market meant there was something for everyone, and is a strong testament to the council's commitment to multiculturalism within Melton.

Market Stalls

The market’s global flavors didn’t just end at food. Stalls that ran on the night also offered handmade items including jewellery, 3D prints, keychains and craft sets showcasing various cultural items and practices. Unique interactive activities such as archery and Henna also shaped an enjoyable part of the experience, highlighting Melton’s ability to support small businesses whilst creating lasting memories.

Live Entertainment

A Market is not complete without entertainment, and the Asian Night Market in Melton was no exception. Face painting excited the children, drum workshops occupied interested market-goers and Prince Ravi Raja humoured families with his jokes.

Live performances throughout the evening celebrated the vibrant traditions of Asia in a fun and inclusive environment, including dance routines and songs performed by the people of Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, India and China.

Through an atmosphere promoting diversity, Melton has evidently encouraged people of all backgrounds to come together to celebrate the beauty of the city.

Upcoming Markets

The Asian Night Market has brought Melton’s community together to experience delicious food, live music and interactive activities. Whether you are a local resident or new visitor to the city of Melton, this first night market was a promising cultural celebration experience.

Following this successful event, festivities are set to continue in March and April with two more Night Markets. These will feature European and Oceania dishes and performances, meaning there is no better time to mark your calendar and head to Melton!
